Ambassador (Ambie for short) was quite a story. One morning, very early, I received a call from one of our customers who worked for the Ambassador Hotel in Amarillo. He asked me how long Taz had been out running loose. I checked….Taz was home safe and sound in bed with his Dad. The Ambassador Hotel employee told me that he had found a dog “just like Taz” and he was absolutely covered in ticks. His manager had told him that he a hour to contact me and get the dog out of the hotel. I threw on some clothes and hurried to get him. Ambie is apparently a middle aged dog. He was intact when we rescued him and after running ads to seek out his original owners, we assume he was dumped. He is beginning to grey on his muzzle, but he is still full of life and mischief. When I picked him up, he was absolutely covered in over 200 ticks. I took him straight to a local groomer, who donated her time and supplies, and dipped him at no charge. What a life saver she was that day. Ticks fell off of him for days and we all ran around itching from just thinking about them. Ambie was incredibly lucky. He did not contact any tick born disease from the incident and lives happily in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma with Sandy Kinion and her children. He was renamed Joey and lives a wonderful life now….and hopes for a “sister” soon.
