Penny – a beautiful Vizsla girl with a bit of an attitude! |
Penny with her new friend, Ralph. |
Penny was an owner turn-in. She was three years old and gorgeous. However, she tended to guard things such as the trash, and other objects that she perceived as hers. The owner had very young toddler twins and was afraid that she might bite one of them. He made a substantial donation to the VCA for her care and welfare and tearfully relinquished her to us. It just so happened that I had an application from a semi-retired couple in Raton, New Mexico. Children were not around often and the felt they could provide an excellent home for her. They had just lost their old Vizsla and were looking for a new friend for Ralph, their aging Vizsla. Penny seemed to fit the bill. Penny had a rough year in her new home. At one point, it looked as though she might not be salvageable, but Charles and Lucia Hyde were well vested in her well-being and put forth a tremendous amount of extra effort. At last report, Penny was doing fine. She even stayed by Chuck’s side when he fell recently, refusing to leave him until help arrived. They had recently taken a trip with the dogs and Penny did fine around children. She has come a very long way in a short time.
