There are Vizslas throughout the countries that need re-homing due to unfortunate circumstances. Some are found in shelters; some are owner releases for various reasons. Luckily, the Vizsla breed does not have as many homeless as some other breeds. One reason is because of conscientious and careful breeding and placing the vizsla puppy. Please, if you are considering a Vizsla puppy, seek out a responsible breeder who will support you throughout your new pup’s life. In recent years however, there has been an influx of Vizslas needing new homes through our rescue resources. Most make wonderful pets and some have even been known to hunt and compete in agility and other fun activities in their new home. If you are interested in possibly obtaining one of these wonderful pets, someone from VCA Rescue would love to speak with you. Please e-mail our local coordinator with any questions you might have concerning our program. I surely don't have all the answers, nor do I have knowledge of every Vizsla needing placement, but I can contact the rescue coordinator in your area. They would be glad to follow-up with any inquiries you might have.

Perhaps you do not wish to foster or adopt a Vizsla, but want to support the vizsla breed rescue effort. You can do so in many different ways. One way is to purchase items from the Vizsla Rescue Fund. You can also make a donation to the Vizsla Club of America’s Health and Welfare Foundation. Or you can send crates, leashes, collars, toys, etc., to your local VCA or Club Rescue representative.

The AKC website also has information concerning breed rescue for all pure-bred dogs. Most breeds have a national rescue organization and information is as easy as a key-stroke.
