|
Redman (Deceased) |
Redman came to us from a shelter in Roswell, New Mexico. We don't know anything about his past, but he came to us full of whipworm and a horrible upper respiratory illness. Adopted by Patrick Gill in Amarillo, Texas. |
|
Charli (Heather) |
Heather also came to us from the Roswell Humane Society in May of 2002. She stole everyone’s heart, including Burnie’s. Now she has her own webpage! Adopted by Larry Fletcher in the Houston, Texas area. |
| Ambie (Ambassador) was found running the streets of Amarillo. He apparently was dumped at the Ambassador Hotel covered in ticks. Adopted by Sandy Kinion in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. | |
| Gilligan was located in a high kill shelter in Alamogordo, New Mexico. Without a wonderful volunteer from the shelter and Dr. Gutierrez, we never could have reached him in time. His new name is Jake and he lives in Midland, Texas with Kayln and Angela Perkins. | |
| Penny was an owner turn-in. He was afraid she would bite one of his 3.5 year old twins. She might have, as she had never been taught boundaries as a pup. Penny came to us with breeder support (the sire’s owner paid all of her medical expenses) and now lives in Raton, New Mexico with Chuck and Lucia Hyde. | |
| Toby was an owner turn-in. He spent the first three years of his life in a 7’ X 7’ kennel with his brother, Rusty. He now lives in Albuquerque, New Mexico with his new Vizsla brother, Frisco, and his new people, Michelle Croteau and Dan Jiron. | |
|
Rusty (Deceased) |
Rusty was an owner turn-in….Toby’s brother. Although he was the “favorite”, he too spent most of his life in a 7’ x 7’ kennel. “Rusty Cages” now lives with April McCollum and Albert Mock. He will start obedience classes this winter. |
| Willie | Willie is a senior Vizsla who needed a new home. He came us healthy, neutered and just waiting for a special place for retirement. He loved to run with the foster home's dogs and injured himself on some barbed wire the day before his new people were to pick him up. Willie is living a wonderful life now. He has a home in Los Alamos and another in Durango. His people are also retired and he living the good life now. |
| Greta (Missy) | Greta was a owner turn-in who was going through a divorce. She had three dogs and her husband had given her Greta as a gift. Although Greta was well cared for, the owner did not have enough time to spend with her and she released her to rescue for re-home. Greta is a beloved family member in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Her new mom takes her everywhere and she is the apple of her eye. |
| Henry | Henry had been in two homes prior to coming to us through an owner turn-in. He was purchased the first time as an impulse buy from a pet store in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The people quickly learned they were not cut out for the high energy pup and gave him to some friends of theirs. The friends were not prepared for the pup either and called VCA rescue asking us if we would take him. I never did figure out why the dog was in rescue. He was well mannered, dignified, healthy, and has a wonderful disposition. One of the Panhandle Gunslingers' customers decided they would like to offer him a new home. He's doing great there and they tell me he is the "best dog they have ever had". |
| Anya (Deceased) | Anya is a medium aged female who spent almost a year caring for herself in the wild. People had chased her, threw lassos at her, tried to trap her and trick her to catch her. She had a litter of mixed breed pups and would not desert the pups when the Animal Control finally managed to catch her. She was hand shy and spent a good deal of her time hiding from strangers and was generally scared to death the first few weeks she was with me. I picked her up on December 23rd as the shelter had determined that she was "unadoptable". Although she must have been terrified, she never even showed her teeth. Her pups were hand raised (they appeared to be Dobie/Vizsla mix) and placed in loving homes. She spent the better part of five months with me. A great home with another shy Vizsla applied to adopt another dog. At first they were concerned about her ability to adjust, but when she got into the home, she fit in perfectly. |
| Bogey (Deceased) | Bogey is a six year old neutered male who just needed his own people. He lived outdoors in his previous home and came to rescue without house manners. It took him about 30 minutes to realize he really wanted to be inside with his people. |
| Blue | Blue and his brother, Jeter, were owner turn ins from the New Mexico area. Blue was a lovely dog, who, at just over 15 months old had been in seven different homes. He is happy in his new forever home in Park City, Utah and loves playing with his new dad. |
| Skinny (Deceased) |
Skinny's owner turned him in to rescue because he could no longer keep him due to life change circumstances. He was a college student who was trying to keep him in a 500 square foot apartment and attend school. Skinny had grown up with the young man, but he had lots of room to run and play. |
| Sassy | Sassy was relinquished to rescue with Bogey, her father. On the smaller side and very thin, she in now in a wonderful home in the Austin/San Antonio area. |
| Savannah | Savannah. a 1-2 year old female, was a shelter rescue from the Town Lake Shelter in Austin, Texas. She was surrendered with a 6-8 inch gash in her shoulder/chest area of unknown origin. Now she lives in the Dallas/Ft Worth area with her new people. |
| Charlotte | Charlotte was an owner turn in with whom her foster home fell in love. |
| Ricochet | Ricochet (Ricci) was abandoned in a shelter at a few weeks old. He was adopted by a young couple who did not understand the Vizsla energy level, but thought he was cute. Thank goodness they asked Vizsla Rescue to rehome him. |
| Bella | Bella was found as a stray in Odessa, Texas. After being in foster care for a few months, she was placed in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. |
| Hughie | Hughie was found wandering as a stray in the Oklahoma City area by some kind dog lovers. Because they had small dogs, and they had several of their own, he was leased to Vizsla Rescue. |
| Kicsi (Aspen) | Kicsi (how Aspen) was found in Clovis, NM in a kill shelter. |
