Frequently Asked Questions

Can people from out of country rent guns and shoot at PHGS?

Yes, we welcome you to come in and enjoy firing some of our rental guns. We have ammunition and safety gear for sale and rent also!! Come on in and experience our Texas hospitality.

What kinds of guns are allowed?

Most pistols and pellet guns are acceptable. Our shooting range is rated for 2000 feet per second. Firearms that shoot cartridges in excess of this speed cannot be fired here for safety reasons.

How much does it cost to rent a gun and shoot?

Guns rentals are $25 plus ammunition.

How old do you have to be to shoot?

State law states that you must be 18 to be in possession of a firearm. The federal laws require you to be 21 to buy handgun ammunition. Of course, if you bring your parents along, all ages are welcome.

What time?

We are open, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and Saturdays are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. We ask that you check in no later than one hour before closing. We are closed on Monday and Sunday during the summer months. We are open on Mondays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. September (Labor Day Weekend) through May (Memorial Day Weekend).

Can I make a reservation? Is reservation required?

We do not require reservations and service is first come, first served. We offer a membership that reduces the fee for lane rental and offers some other benefits such as the ability to make a reservation. Memberships are $75 a year for an individual and $100 for a family. Family is defined as persons living in the same household and is offered to encourage families to shoot together with their children teaching safe gun handling techniques.

How many lanes of fire do you have?

There are currently five (5) lanes of fire. We have a reactive lane planned for the future.

What ammunition do you allow / not allow and why?

We do not allow steel core ammunition such as Tulammo, Monarch Steel, Black or Brown Bear, and others. Jacketed lead or lead bullets are fine as is frangible bullets.

What kinds of instruction do you offer?

We offer instruction for basic firearm education and License to Carry.


What is “Try Before You Buy”?

This offers you, the consumer, an opportunity to try out a few of our guns before making a purchase decision. You can shoot up to three guns for $50 plus ammunition (a $75 value). IF you decide to purchase the firearm from us, you get a $20 discount.


Do you do special orders?

Absolutely! Check out our inventory on line and call us for the best pricing we can offer!


Do you do transfers between FFL’s?

Yes, we do. The cost is $30 per transaction. If you are receiving more than one firearm from the same dealer on the same transaction, just add $10 per gun. Please make sure the dealer includes who is to receive the firearm and a copy of their FFL.


Are you a “Class 3” dealer?

In all reality, there is no such thing as a Class 3 dealer. However, we do pay the Special Occupational Tax in order to sell, transfer and possess the firearms that require this special licensing.
